Silhouette tips

How to get a clean SVG silhouette from a photo

Start with a photo where the subject is separated from the background. A dog in front of a plain wall, a dark logo on white paper or a high-contrast signature will convert much more cleanly than a busy outdoor scene.

  • Use Keep largest object for people, pets and products with extra background details.
  • Move the threshold until the important outline becomes solid, then clean the small mistakes with the brush.
  • Export PNG for quick preview and SVG for laser, cutting, stencil and design software workflows.
FAQ

Image to SVG silhouette FAQ

Can it make a dog silhouette from a normal photo?
Yes, when the dog has enough contrast against the background. The largest-object mode helps, and the brush/eraser tools let you fix difficult areas manually.

Is the SVG a real editable file?
Yes. The export creates SVG vector shapes from the black silhouette mask. Very detailed photos may create larger SVG files, so the smaller-file setting is useful for sharing.

Are uploaded images stored?
No. The conversion runs in the browser using canvas. The image is not uploaded to a server by this page.
